The Greensboro Watchman is a weekly local newspaper "printed and published in Hale County every week since 1876."
The Greensboro Watchman is owned and operated by Mrs. Rebecca S. (becky) Johnson, niece of the former owner, Willie Jean L. Arrington, who passed away October 15, 2012. Willie worked at The Greensboro Watchman for 62 years, going to work every day through the Friday before Labor Day weekend in 2012. She was ably assisted by her one full-time employee: Waymon Johnson, who is still the typesetter and printer; her part-time employee: Clarence McCain - who helps with the mailing and just about anything else that needs doing, and her niece up in Madison, Alabama, becky, who still writes a weekly column, helps with the tax accounting, and keeps the computers and other office equipment working - or tries to. Since Willie’s final illness, John Allan Clark, former Editor-Publisher of The Perry County Herald has joined the crew to help continue publication of “The Watchman” in the style preferred by its readers.
